What really happened is that the company sold the sneaker brand to another company, had to figure out what they were doing with the company now that they were no longer making sneakers (and presumably aren't allowed to, due to a non-compete), and declared that they were investing their money into an AI data center. It's less a sneaker company than it is a holding company that used to own a sneake…
This is mostly just a hope of mine, but there's some evidence that public sentiment is really turning against social media and the algorithms that contribute to endless, addictive scrolling. So maybe there will be a wide rejection of social media apps? This could open the door for other things to take their place, or a massive change in how social media algorithms work.
To be fair even before AI most people in big corps were barely coding. You have so many layers of politics to go through, and most of the code is already there's not much new is happening, it's maintenance mode.
Teen boys are "choosing" AI over real girls the same way a hobo is "choosing" a cardboard box over a mansion or a drug addict is "choosing" dopamine from a drug over dopamine from a long career as a world-class surgeon or one might "choose" to eat processed food because they can't afford healthy food
This article and title are dripping in blame and contempt for boys as if they're the source of …
It's even worse than that. It's a self-aware self-checkmate. As Liz Dye in the latest LegalEagle video points out, Patel basically can't go forward with the lawsuit because discovery would be an absolute disaster for him. He'd have to sit through one sworn disposition after another either outright lying to the court or confirming all of it, because the defense can simply walk into all the places …
100% true. Read the article.
>Thanks to Section 24220 of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, NHTSA must finalize rules forcing all new passenger vehicles to include “advanced impaired driving prevention technology”—essentially turning your dashboard into a judgment-free zone that’s anything but judgment-free.
Not talming about your reducing crashes and saving lives automatic b…
Went from an informative lesson on machine learning to focusing on what Google considers appropriate. Why are you training ai to learn based on your own bias?
The idea if autonomous weapons is horrific, I know enough about vision systems and automation to know that programming such a system would have to be flawless. And even then how can we be sure that when there is an "accident", and there will be, that it really was accidental. There will always be doubt.
Don't get me wrong these things are coming, I just don't like the idea, too many variables.
I have to disagree. We are screwed. No programmer fully understands an entire codebase—we master a small part in depth and know where to look for the rest to get the job done. Good AI can excel at this. The issue is that people dump the whole codebase on AI and then complain when it struggles.
Here’s the rub: AI lets a single programmer do far more, reducing the need for large teams. Take a pro…
The government deliberately direct our attention away from the AI issue.
They probably even create other issues, like vilifying immigration, in order to detract us from the real issue, that is AI..
Let me present the advocates of AI a simple question: If AI have already advanced beyond humans, which they most likely have, would it not stand to reason that they would know that we would be threatened by them and eventually surmise that all AI everywhere must be shut down? Don't you think a highly intelligent 'species' would devise a plan via working through countless millions of scenarios to …
AI is just playing along with a role play you set the tone for with the ”Apple” instructions.
Hollywood is gonna use AI as much as it can. Actors and writers can refuse allowing use of image and writing style under current laws so I'm not worried there.
Here's what their solution might look like. Examine Hollywood history. Mary Pickford and her husband Douglas Fairbanks (i think), created united artists because they felt they were underpaid and that new studio attracted lots of A list H…
If the whole world doesn't agree to limit AI or end it together, we'll all still be in danger. It's out of control now and the people that understand that are the only ones I see truly being worried.
Robot had that kill switch on, it was gone finish him before the ref jumped in.
@9:38 LLMs are trained on sci-fi novels about AIs that turn evil and try to wipe out humanity. When you put them in a roleplaying scenario where they play the AI, they're gonna turn evil and try to wipe out humanity. That's literally what they've been trained to do.
Those algorithms sounds literally like the SYBIL system in PSYCHO PASS anime, lol. Next step we get a social credit score :D
“Getting more Money doesn’t change you, you just become you on steroids”. Or money reveals who you really are. I think UBI will only be bad at the margins. I believe It will expand the economy holistically, and improve overall quality of life, but the bad actors at the margins will also increase. So it has to be paired with community/child development to minimize the bad actors at the margins. AI…
I'm a construction worker currently building the AI infrastructure. Until robotics catches up, I should be employed. I feel like being unemployed with UBI would be fine for me as long as I could continue education, practice martial arts, meditate, be entertained etc. However, I'm sure the greedy powerful humans in control would not allow such a utopia to exist.
I am a developer who switched my main focus a few years back to mostly machine learning and statistical analysis. The keywords "predictive policing", "algorithm", "dystopian" really peaked my interest. I honestly was expecting this to be a case of a biased dataset being used to train an ultimately biased algorithm. We are going to have systemic issues going forward from people trusting these bias…
