Teen boys are "choosing" AI over real girls the same way a hobo is "choosing" a cardboard box over a mansion or a drug addict is "choosing" dopamine from a drug over dopamine from a long career as a world-class surgeon or one might "choose" to eat processed food because they can't afford healthy food This article and title are dripping in blame and contempt for boys as if they're the source of the issue rather than victims to systemic trends and increasing rates of social isolation, bullying, exclusion, shame and cringe culture, suspicion of peers, demonization of anyone who can be labeled as "other," rising social anxiety and mental health concerns, higher expectations and pressure on children to prepare and make perfect choices for their future, lack of social spaces, reduced free time, lower tolerances for mistakes or being awkward, and so many other things.  Society still mostly puts the responsibility of initiating and persuing relations on males, so obviously this is going to o manifest as boys finding it to just be not worth it. The Internet and society has taught kids to be hypervigilent and always on edge about even the possibility of doing something even minutely outside the status quo. And like others have said, it isn't at all unique or even majorly boys that are leaning this way. Pretty typical rhetoric demonizing young boys whenever possible. It's strange to me that none of the comments I've seen seem to be pointing this out. Edit: formatting
