Legally curious case, [Character.AI](http://Character.AI) is a chatbot with user-created profiles that are basically just prompts for the AI to roleplay a certain way. The case here doesn't seem to be copyrighted training data, but entirely about the output. Afer all, an AI being able to talk like a certain fictional character isn't evidence that the entirety of the copyrighted material was used…

Wouldn't the Michelle Carter case serve as precedent? The court deemed that placing someone in a situation that leads to their suicide (even via text) is involuntary manslaughter. It would depend on how much encouragement was on the LLM's part. Iirc what fucked Michelle Carter was that Roy, her boyfriend, had gotten cold feet and she told him to get back in the car and finish it, so if at any …

Yeah absolutely. There may actually be no room round the table or something, but you fix it, the person who arrived last has to sit on a tuffet. Or you do buffet style food YOU MAKE IT WORK

Yeah, I hate this stupid "AI does this, AI does that". It fucking doesn't do anything. It completes text, that's what it does. Period.  And it does this based on training data, in which, oh wonder, war is mentioned many more times than happy peaceful times. "Today was another peaceful day where no nuclear strikes happened" just doesn't exist that much in the data.

I mean most current "AI"s are all about pirating and stealing content for their algorithms so yeah. Why not software too.

It’s fucking hilarious and as a software engineer my job just became so much easier. I can just produce AI generated slop code and my upper management and Wall Street analysts are clapping their hands like seals.

They will hire cheap labor in India. This is just a measure to replace one American with 3 Indians. Salaries are less here in India and people are easily exploited due to over supply of educated engineering graduates. AI is just an excuse. This is all just cost cutting and offshoring.

That would never enter someones mind who was brought up like that. Everyone around him probably tells him how smart and capable he is at all times.

She's a fucking 78 year old democrat. The democrats cannot stop shooting themselves in the fucking foot. Ancient fucking politicians need to be wheeled away to rot in their nursing homes. Fuck AI data centers, fuck FLOCK cameras, fuck Palantir. Fuck the surveillance states, America will not stand for this. STILL GO VOTE. Vote fucking democrat, and then vote to get these ancient ass old geriatric…

The factories are already fully automated and highly efficient. If anything he's slowing things down and just looking busy.....like a typical human 😂

While using a flawed unqualified technology for therapy isn't the best, I'm fairly confident it's not such a bad idea like this video suggests. On one hand yes, they are storing your conversation in their database and it's almost surely not even encrypted, so it's not 100% "private", the company has access to it. But why would they care about a random user when they have million of chats every d…

This just goes to show why vision and radar-based systems aren’t enough for full self-driving. Only 3D imaging like LIDAR can get the job done, and Elon is so firmly against putting LIDAR on Teslas that I can’t see fully driverless Teslas happening anytime soon.

27:05 Here is the chilling comment that Karen Hao opens her book with: Sam Altman cited Qi Lu in a 2013 blog post: “Successful people build companies, more successful people build countries, the most successful people build religions.” “It seems to me that the most successful founders in the world don’t set out to build a company, they set out to build a religion. And it turns out that building a…

I'm 50 years old, and I used to tell myself I would never code—it's too late, I'm too old, etc. But since large language models started to get good at coding, I thought, hey, I can harass this thing 24 hours a day about how to code, and it will never get annoyed. Two years later, I'm coding with the help of my LLM, of course. I’ve created several complicated apps that the AI would not have been a…

I was hoping to get some instruction on how more sophisticated AI content could be identified by the average audio/visual consumer.

This video is a great way to introducing and explaining artificial intelligence. It was simple and informative, and I really enjoy the visuals that connect to the narration to explaining the subject. It is very diverse in the explanation of AI, and it is a good video to show to students and keep their engagement. The quiz question would be a nice idea for an exit ticket. I think it will be a grea…

I wish we could go back to the time when TV was invented and widespread. The world should've stopped developing after that😢
