The scenario where AI will bring more "cheap" services and everybody will have a better and easier life will never happen and that is because politics. The thing about these discussions is that they don't seem to treat every aspect of life and unfortunately politics is a big part of our society. It did happen with machines in some parts of the industry where you used to break your back for a living and now we do have the option of not doing that. But people are getting paid less and less doing those jobs because the system does not scale equally. What we perceive as valuable has changed a lot in the last 100 years. In my opinion we allready had the option of improving life with what we had but that was not an option for our leaders. We need something better than capitalism or socialism to achieve this. And that does not exist yet.
