I have a hypothetical scenario. Let's say we let A.I replace nearly all jobs and we switch over to U.B.I instead of the elites killings us off with a pathogen or world war. People live somewhat happily for 30 years until one day a massive solar flare knocks out all the power. All those years we depended on robots to do our jobs will have made the population dumb, complacent, and unskilled. Without the internet or our precious A.I, we would enter into either a new dark age or end up with a society like the one shown in the movie Idiocracy.
Humans need challenges, obstacles, and goals to strive towards in order to grow healthily. Without these things, we grow decadent, depraved, and depressed. Why do you think the people on the starship in Wall-E grew so fat and useless? It's because they had no more challenges and the robots did EVERYTHING for them.
