Well if you want to prod her on her views, ask her her commentary on this: it's impossible for an AI (in the current configuration) to be conscious because it's a stateless machine. It's no more sensical than a 16-key calculator "being conscious" because it can transform the input of 1, +, 1, and = into a numerical 2 on the screen. It just does it in a much much more non-linear fashion with tokens. When you interact with a stateless machine, the internals of the machine remain unchanged upon interaction. So it can't have subjective experience (which is what one usually means by "conscious") because there's no way for it to record the experience, any more than a 16-key calculator or a brick.
