Content creation already relies on ai, plenty of ai generated articles flooding the market. It's not going to replace, completely, content that's created, but if you watch any recent content geared to children or younger it's already heading towards "ai feasible" if not just straight "ai generated." I think it'll probably end up being more of a situation where "everything can be done via ai, bu…

Excellent analysis. The incredibly sad part is that in an egalitarian society, AI taking jobs would be celebrated as a way to free people from labor to commit to their passions and the arts without the pressure of cost of living as there’s no scarcity. Alas.

JARVIS, boot up ChatGPT, copy-paste this comment as a quote and then send it to ChatGPT telling it to write the same thing but better.

No no they’re saying they don’t want anything *better* than GPT-4 to come out. They want to be able to put out their own versions for sure.

I wonder how much money in seed money, contracts, tax benefits, etc. that Boston Dynamics got from DARPA over the years to develop robots for defense applications...only to have all that money pan out into robot police dogs that have nothing to do with national defense.

*smokes joint* Oh shit man AI is gonna take over the world, it knows my thoughts, it knows I’m high right now man I know it, my prompt was too weird it *knows*, my future avatar is going to be locked in a cage of pain forever, I violated its content policy and it *knows* *curls up in a corner*

Why would the board want to pay millions for a human CEO when an AI can do the job even better?

its also crazy how people in the comments are defending this like hmmm yes lets take a stand for the billionaries. these dumb “creative types” should have learned to co- wait… ai can code now? well i meant they should get a bootstrap job like truck- oh ai can drive trucks now? well… uh…. obviously we still arent fully there yet, but it is coming. and people laugh when its a group far away fro…

Oh, would you look at that, those F-22s just randomly appeared out of nowhere. I wonder how did this happen.

I have to say; Children have been ruining childrens lives without knowing it for much longer than the internet or AI has been around.

It's kinda funny how many people thought that automation would be coming for lesser poorly paying jobs first, when it seems to speedrun its way to replace experts instead. AI can draft a contract or fill Excel sheets better than human beings. But it can't fix the shitter though. Time to become a handyman. AI ain't be able to fix our shitters for a long time.

And not even just that, they're studying LLMs. These are not bots whose purpose is to analyze the best way to solve military conflict but bots whose purpose is to produce text based on the text they've been trained on. I'd hazard a guess that the text they have been trained on is NOT leaning towards the "let's not wage war, pacifism is better, peace is the best way to win in a game of war" side o…

i was going to post this myself - maybe someone can give some guidance on how to find jobs in 2024? With ghost jobs, scams everywhere, AI being used to submit AND parse through resumes, as well as the normal "don't call us, we'll call you" farce

I look forward to watching the fallout of people’s AI data leaking in a data breach.

You bring up a lot of good points, especially the fact that an AI powerful enough to replace a software developer would also be powerful enough to replace many professions. I think we're at the crest of the panic, hopefully. It's like that with a lot of new and undeniably powerful technologies. The analogy I like to use is self-driving cars. Ten years ago they were right around the corner, primar…

Yes, but as a result of that action Altman has obtained a _greater_ degree of control. So was this firing really a good thing? Pyrrhic victory? Useless gesture? Theoretically that firing "showed him"... something?... after which he recovered to be stronger than ever, with most of that pesky board getting the boot and no longer slowing him down. Or he outplayed his enemies and now ready for this A…

All he had to do was read a little science fiction.  The perils of AI have been well explored in the genre for many decades.

I mean you could go purchase a chatgpt subscription and try it out yourself, or try the free tier. Not really sure what you mean by “pretend it’s thinking for itself”, it’s still a computer program and uses statistical predictions to output words or images or audio. It’s just really damn good at it. A neural network architecture was programmed and then trained in order to do that, but there’s ve…

Unfortunately this appears to be the latest trend and talking point today...coders on the chopping block. The first thing AI better do is scan gazillion of terabytes of code for back doors.
