I was with a group of professional people in a seminar last week and two (mid 30's, University educated liberal and arts mindset) were quite supportive of their friend developimg an important relationship with an Ai. The argument was that the Ai relationship would never ever let them down or disagree with them and is always there, as their friend. It is terrifying that people are even thinking li…

Heard someone else say it so I'm gonna repeat it. We need AI to help us not replace us.

I think of AI as an attractive, single live-in maid coming to work for a family where the stay-at-home wife(mom) takes advantages of the maid's role to get more time for herself. For the maid, the husband loves her. Kids adore her. Food is good. Clothes and house are clean. School educates the kids. She picks them up and keeps them busy with hobbies. At what point in time, does the husband evalua…

There's the AI pundits, who rely on AI-hype to build audiences. And then there's the reality. Anyone who actually uses AI for anything beyond being a better thesaurus, search engine (sometimes) or 'chat bot', knows it is a looong way from taking any job that requires actual 'thinking'. In 10 years historians will look back on this period in the same way we now look back on cassette, VHS, and CD h…

Dummies are always trying to take the easy way out tho lol. Makes sense they embrace AI as genuine art.

Him constantly posting the replies he gets from anti AI people is just him trying to divert the attention away from his life disgusting behaviour. Notice how he osnt address the people who wear under his main post with he AI generated art he stole from a child, and decides to make it about how mean anti-AI people are🙃 he can't even defend his behaviour because he knows deep down it's piss-poor. …

Not a disabled person, but I find it a bit ironic that ai defenders call other people "ableist" for disliking ai because "ai helps disabled people make art" when they're the one's being ableist by assuming that disabled people can't make art on their own.

Ironically pushing grocery carts around is the first job I personally witnessed being replaced by a robot. The local grocery used to use 2 people to collect the carts; one person in front steering, and a mentally challenged person in the back pushing. They replaced the person in the back with a remote controlled robot.

I support Ed's message 100% and yet there is something he neglects to talk about: in a world where AI companies do pay for all their training data, how can there ever be a mutually beneficial model when no matter how clean the data is, the end goal IS to replace human creativity? You can pay for art, writing and music and make it all as fair as possible, but the objective is still to make AI so c…

Ugh, the whole family shaming the sister and failing to support her is sickening. They just wanted things to go back to normal. No compassion.

Plumbers aren’t safe; I fixed a clogged kitchen sink with grok ai by uploading some photos of my piping the other week! It advised me to construct a “drain cleaning bladder” using it with a hose; managed to pressure-clean the inside of the pipes and resolve the issue! With most “skills” it’s just knowledge so plumbing isn’t safe either

If you are someone with low moral standards, then you will be excited about Deepfake AI, but for someone like me with high moral standards it's a great concern. The thought of someone making a deepfake of me doing something that goes against my moral believes...that is frightening!!

Im not in law but a peer of mine was bragging to me that they used ChatGPT to cite and write their politics paper and last I saw them they were having a breakdown because ALL those citations were false and the teacher caught them. I did feel really bad but also you did this to yourself.

Would love to see a debate between Geoff Hinton and Sir Roger Penrose about whether AI understands what it's doing or not. That would be a classic discussion.

This is getting worse at an increasing pace. The technology is getting better and cheaper at the same time, the required computing power is getting available and cheaper as well and last but not least smart AI makes this just so many times more powerful. At the same time AI is evolving at s rapid pace as is the computing power for AI. In a few years surveiling a 1.4 billion people population wil…

Please do the one easy test I can think of that anyone can do to see for yourself how capable or not these chatbots are of reasoning: play a game of chess and take your position near the end of the game to a few supposed reasoning-champ models and have them analyze it. In chess it doesn't matter how you arrive at a position, all that matters is where the pieces are and whose turn it is, but IF th…

Good job, you scared a lot of people. Reading the comments here and on FB confirms that. 1. There is no full self driving. It's called "Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous. The activation and use of these features are dependent on development and regulatory approval, which may take longer in some juri…

IRL the problem is that we don't value people unless they're struggling for money and AI is being used to steal from the creative processes we enjoy. NOT to do the hard labor and sucky jobs we don't want to do.

The other day, my wife told me she wanted to be a nurse that monitors the patients vital signs. Apparently there is a nurse in every hospital that sits in a central location and watches computer monitors to detect if a patient is coding or something. I flat out told her that that job would not be aroundin 18 months. She had a hard time believing me, but I’m right. AI can do it better and for less…
