There's the AI pundits, who rely on AI-hype to build audiences. And then there's the reality. Anyone who actually uses AI for anything beyond being a better thesaurus, search engine (sometimes) or 'chat bot', knows it is a looong way from taking any job that requires actual 'thinking'. In 10 years historians will look back on this period in the same way we now look back on cassette, VHS, and CD hype: real advances in delivery that were wildly overinterpreted as advances in capability.
