> people said he was a lame prime minister
Not all people by any means. JT has made a few errors, like anyone, but his defining trait is that he is a *genuinely good person*. He actually gives a damn. And that’s why I’ll vote for him for as long as he wants the job.
I can see the advantage of facial recognition as an investigative TOOL, but these dumbasses really tried to throw someone in prison for 20 years with a facial recognition hit as the only piece of evidence...
Seems like the only person with a lick of sense in this case was the judge.
It's not about AI, it's about safeguarding the data you collect. If you don't have proper safeguards in place, you are not allowed to keep the data, it's as simple as that. OpenAI got billions of dollars from investors, they can afford it, but they choose not to.
> A year from now I don't know what I'll do
Masturbate to realistic AI generated porn based on simple pictures.
They go on a game show and risk their lives to compete against 456 other players for the ultimate prize of the equivalent of tens of millions of dollars.
"Faking" low cost is literally what ChatGPT was doing and other monopolies. Lose money until you are a monopoly then degrade the service and charge more.
I actually read the ChatGPT conversation you linked, and there is absolutely nothing in it that would lead any reasonable person to increase their estimation of the likelihood that ChatGPT is sentient. And if you just ask it something like “is any of the above true literally rather than figuratively” it will carefully and accurately explain that most of the language is metaphorical and the supern…
It's already too late.
Humanity is never going to be the same. This is hitting the middle class hard right now.
Most are oblivious that it's happening. Some are at the denial and ignorance stage.
I've worked as a software engineer for 25 years, 5 more to go to retire and I honestly don't think I'll make 5 at the rate it's accelerating.
For those in the ignorance and denial camp, you need …
This is their point. The LLM, nor a book, are sentient. It’s just that an LLM can appear to be (by design) and that has people wanting it to be true, especially if they feel like they are important to it.
I say this only highlights mental health struggles and the inadequacies of people getting the support they need from actual people.
I’m not saying it’s bad someone feels better interacting wit…
> Companies who deploy AI to do interviews make it a 1 way process and blocks the candidate from learning more about the company.
Also that company will replace you the instant a manglement decides an AI can do your job, and they're signalling that there's so many you will be rejected anyways.
This is the issue isn’t not? Humans can at least provide instant feedback or be penalized to the point of losing their car privileges, money, and eventual freedom.
This is just more liability hiding behind corporate anonymity due to feckless and greedy politicians that let them get away with it because it’s profitable.
These same jerks are trying to get everyone on the hook for their over lev…
I doubt it. We had an extensive conversation with our students about GenAI at the beginning of our course. Our first project (solo) had a 15% GenAI Usage. We failed every one of the projects that we could tell used it. We also offer regrade requests. Our TAs received a few of them from students not understanding why they received a 0%. In only one case was a student able to overturn their grade. …
Not just AI either. The way GLP-1s are talked about on here makes me feel like I’m going insane. I’m not even against the stuff. But any thread about it immediately devolves into floods of comments like “I lost x lbs on it in y months!” “It’s truly a miracle drug!” With an unnatural lack of pushback to any of this. Doesn’t matter what sub you’re on. That’s not how organic internet discussions go.…
Same. Our PE owners recently told leadership to get an account from every employee of how we are all using AI in our daily work. I had to make shit up because I specifically DON’T use it. I tried it twice.
First time, they insisted I use AI, I used it (to do tasks that can already be done easily without it), and we got charged thousands of dollars for “using up AI credits.” Fuck Asana.
Second…
The crazy part is that a lot of this is probably not actual investors or actual people making the trades. Its automated systems that are reading in data and making trades based on that information.
Robot rights matter
Unless the go rouge and kill us
But isn't that the logic for all racist people???
0:28 I just want to say that more than the artstyle I recognized IMMEDIATELY THAT THEY STOLE THE ART THEY PUT INTO AI TO GET THE IMAGES. They look way too close to the anime drawings used as background on Nightcore videos on youtube around ten years ago (for the SAO, FMA & other older media "fanart" they did). It's really obvious 😭
In February this year, I attended a conference on AI, an event organized by all the big companies working on developing AI technologies. Obviously, as you can imagine, it was like a big 3-day ad drilling into participants the multiple benefits of AI. One speaker said something that stayed with me " The IT department in each company will be the future HR department". I was speechless and hated the…
This actually made me smile so hard 😭 seeing the diversity and creativity in each artists rendition really solidifys the whole movement. AI could never recreate the intention and purpose that art stands for.
What people don't understand is that companies have a financial incentive to replace all inefficient gears, AI and robotics are the ultimate gear to them because you don't have to pay them wages. Let's not pretend that million or billion dollar companies actually care about their employees.
