Now the AI is going to scrape that, fold it into its knowledge base and come to the conclusion that humans are an existential threat.
Thanks, Google.
He's basically getting to the point of some of what Frank Herbert was getting at about AI in his Dune series. AI isn't bad because it's gonna go rogue, take over the world, and try to kill everybody. It's dangerous because humans surrender their capacity for critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and moral decision making to it, thereby more easily enslaving them to whoever creates and contro…
This is kind of disturbing. They are talking to these AI's as if they're real people who have awareness and feelings but really they're just talking to their phone.
Because of tiktok I have the feeling that I lost all my attention span. But I watched this whole video without any distractions. Great interview and Karen Hao is amazing speaker and love her voice !
aussie here.we had big storms down south a while ago with large power outages. over the next few days there were articles and news reports about whether or not it was because of the RENEWABLE ENERGY that the power shut off.
The WHO can't, but if countries come to an agreement, it would be possible.
As the article says, the pharma industry is lobbying wealthy countries to block all such discussions though:
> The WHO does not have the authority to sidestep patents - **but it is trying to bring countries together to find a way to bolster vaccine supplies.** The discussions include using provisions in international…
AI companies are generating tens of billions in revenue (not profitably) while promising to spend hundreds of billions on data centers with companies taking on hundreds of billions in debt.
Riddle me this, what happens when the AI companies eventually fail to pay the bills, you think hundreds of billions in loans will just be forgiven, hmm?
If you use ai to write slop for you, you are neither an author or writing a book
(Re: The social contract aspect of this) These AI bros looked at an act of love (a child making a drawing for her dad) and went, "This is wrong. This is broken and needs to be fixed. I should be the one to fix this with AI, not anyone else. You should let me do this without critism. And you should be fine with me being rude to a child who acted out of love." What is _wrong_ with them?
Replacing developers with AI is like being cold and deciding to set your house on fire instead of lighting up the stove
Why the fuck people would trust an AI to do things? IT NEVER WORKS. I ALWAYS GIVE TERRIBLE RESULTS.
whats wild to me, is when people have such little disrespect for artists, and act like AI will replace artists and what we should just accept it and stop trying to make art... when in actuality AI art is dependent on said artist to function.. like how ironic can you be 😭
When the time comes I will buy a robot who does the coding job and I will find a job for him and will keep the salary.
fr sadly older ppl and parents dont really know anything about ai. my mum literally apologises to gemini AI and stuff as if its a real perosn
When it comes to AI for writing, I find myself going back to the Terry Pratchett quote: "The first draft is just you telling yourself the story”. I've known it for years before AI popped off and I thought I understood what it meant. It's only recently that I drew a different meaning from it, that being that you don't know what the story even is until you've put in the legwork of going through all…
I talk to it nicely, so it remembers me and spares me during the AI uprising.
The thing is the AI will kill all free advices, free instructions, free articles. There wont be anything new in a couple of years for it to steal from. And then it wont be able to offer anything new. Only repeat the old ones
I have cancelled my sub to Midjourney. For a while it was amazing seeing what the AI would create from words. For those of us who are not artists, it was a wonderful experience - and helped me tremendously with my issues. But knowing it has been at the expense of actual artists who did not opt into this, makes me really sad. Thank you for explaining that there is no opt out or opt in. Most …
From my personal experience working as a translator for major studios such as Paramount, Netflix, and Universal, A typical translation project for a movie would take about five days, including adaptation, corrections, and subtitling. Then, back in 2018, they fired everybody and replaced us with AI. What used to take five days and maybe ten people now takes AI seconds. Look around. Nobody needs a …
Another way to spot ai is to ask yourself, "¿how would this be recorded?" More often than not, AI videos are recorded from impossible angles, or in situations where it's impossible for someone to be there recording from their phones. As for stationary CCTV cameras, normally companies don't upload footage from their surveilance cameras online.
