Also as a San Franciscan, I'm not appalled by Waymo at all. Waymo has not caused any fatal accidents here in SF or anywhere else. I feel much safer walking in front of an approaching Waymo than any other car. And as a rider it's a great experience.
Human drivers cause thousands of deaths and millions of injuries every year. We should applaud Waymo for developing excellent automated driving systems that, if adopted everywhere, could finally solve that problem.
