I don't think it's accurate to say no one cares. AI Safety is a huge field. It's mainly that most average people just don't know enough about AI to even suggest an idea, even from a social science or philosophical perspective. If you want AI Safety YT content to show that there ARE in fact many very intelligent people who care, check out Robert Miles on YouTube as well as Computerphile on YouTube.
