I work for GM and cannot afford most of their vehicles anymore. They are currently replacing 1000s of jobs, reducing departments from 200 people to 20 with automation. There's no layoffs. They are simply replacing retired workers with robots. The jobs are just vanishing. 1000s+ of jobs at just ONE manufacturing plant. Now multiply that by 10, 15, 20 other manufacturing plants doing that. Not only is there zero job creation, there's not even new people replacing the current job. It's just gone.
