What I find interesting is that the perception of art as a "luxury job" is something that AI-shilling tech-bros probably fundamentally disapprove of while at the same time all the Jackson Pollock wannabes out there treat is as something to be coveted, but if you think about it a little more you realize that both of those perspectives are fundamentally after the same thing: maximization of profit/clout from making art by committing the least amount of effort possible to create it.
The sad reality then is that those skewed set of priorities ultimately come at the expense of the artists that have made careers out of making art and treat the entire practice like a traditional form of skilled labor: the tech bros exploit their efforts by stealing their work and giving nothing back while the clout-chasers undermine those efforts by having their mediocrity overmarketed to the point that actual skilled practitioners go overlooked.
TL;DR: the application of Keynesian economic principles to the practice of art and its consequences have been a complete disaster.
