Teachers in many Western countries are quitting by the truckload-- they're underpaid, chronically underappreciated, and mistreated by both students and their institutions. Replacing human teachers with AI robots is the natural consequence for our failure as a society to value teachers, and we'll be all the worse for it.
What happens when we replace the mentor/mentee experience with AI educators? Students are natural bulls*** detectors-- they'll see that if a human can be replaced by a robot, then maybe the material being taught doesn't really matter. If students didn't already value their human educators before, what makes people think they'll respect robots?
