The fact that this guy can say with a straight face that because a robot runs away from something it is "afraid" in the same way as a human goes a long way in explaining why he doesn't understand consciousness...it's just mimicking the behaviour that a person or conscious sentient being eoukd do when in fear, that doesn't mean it is feeling and experiencing that emotion at all - it just looks like it to us. Incredible how someone clearly intelligent in some ways can be so ignorant at the same time.
Consciousness is the energy that gives life to the body, the lifeforce that leaves the body permanently when we die. It is where we get the term "unconscious" from - the consciousness leaves rhw body temporarily when sleeping or knocked out. Not coincidentally that occurs when the brain takes a blow as the brain is an electromagnetic conductor that receives consciousness. The AI equivalent would be the power source or electricity that runs it. But we don't know where our electricity/consciousness/power source comes from but it is not something that AI shares.
