Well said! The other day I went down the AI defense rabbit-hole, I wanted to try and understand, maybe I was being unfair, maybe I was missing something? After all I've been an artist all my life, I can't even remember a time before. SPOILER ALERT: To absolutely nobody's surprise, I wasn't mistaken or unfair. There is a deep seeded hate for artist in these communities, doesn't matter what your field of art is, Drawing, Voice Acting, Writing, they hate the artist but love the product. As someone who did commission work years ago, and quit because of how disgusting people are, all I can say is, "the more things change the, more they stay the same." Themes of entitlement, of artists doing this to themselves because they... wanted to get paid for their time. How all these people somehow had the next "big great amazing idea", and if only they could draw, they'd be able to bring it to life, but they can't, and it's those gatekeeping artist who refuse to work for free, or exposure, or pro bono, that are stomping on their dreams! Of course, with what they've created via AI and what Shad created, with no limitations other than his own mind we see the lie to that. Still, they believe they'll be the meek that inherits "art"; from the "big bad mean talented people who won’t do things for free." Classic definition of useful idiot. What will happen is the Corps will steal portfolios and have someone they can't fire do the job of an entire art team. They don’t understand that AI doesn’t have to be better, it just has to be cheaper and scale. They don’t realize how competitive art is, that for every exceptionally skilled artist that gets a job or makes it, 1000 more just as skilled don’t, for one reason or another. They don’t care that this will kill the commission market, why commission art when it’s socially acceptable to use AI art? In fact, why commission art when many of these models can just make you art in the style of any artist you want? These people will gladly sprint to the entropy of art of creation, of originality, of authenticity which is already so rare. But of course, they don’t care, just as long as they feel good in the moment. It doesn’t matter who they steal from, who’s bodily autonomy they violate… Then again should I be surprised?
