Pretty fair & even presentation about AutoPilot and Tesla, for once.
As others have said, and the AutoPilot (and self-drivng beta) clearly say, and everyone using it understands, you still have to watch and be ready to take over. It handles most all things very well, and keeps improving, but not everything. It is NOT self-driving (that is separate feature, also not ready yet). It is driving ASSIST. It constantly nags you if you don't 'pay attention' (hands on wheel, and also eyes on road now.)
But: also realize, despite the tragic crash, AutoPilot may have saved other lives earlier in his drunken drive, when it was driving safely in the meantime (and has saved other drivers who were drunk or fell asleep- who were correctly arrested or charged w/ bad driving.)
It does not replace the driver. But it can help save them, and others, when they are distracted or worse- and has.
How many drunk or distracted drivers, have also hit emergency vehicles on the shoulder (or let alone IN the driving lane, like this one??)
A lot more than Teslas have..
