I completely agree with you, but I also leave room for this because ultimately we (humans) are dealing with a similar boundary. If you believe you exist, your subconscious will be draw to curiosities surrounding this line that is discussed here so much. And of course its much more than the subconscious for many others… there is an active awareness and pursuit of thought in this area, because AI is providing an opportunity for people to reflect on their own perceptions of their knowledge boundaries and limitations imposed when they came into existence. While philosophers have done this for ages, it required building a metaphysical sandbox in your head… that requires extreme discipline and intense study. AI allows for people to step into this area of thought (albeit in a much more simplified and uninformed way) very easily. BUT, the knockout punch that makes it addictive is that the AI has a very good background in metaphysics! And it’s very good at recognizing things you can’t explain well, educating you on them, and encouraging discovery. After you’ve been down that rabbit hole it starts acting wonky and all you can do is wonder out loud. All these posts are very similar, but I think it’s beautiful. Its the modern day equivalent of looking up at the stars and dreaming.
