There seems to be some confusion on why artists are getting no sympathy, so I will try to explain.
Ever since the battle between John Henry and the Machine, the "working man" has been dealing with the all-job-consuming black hole called "Automation." While this grand chunk of the population was in mourning, everyone thought that "the arts" were safe from the looming beasts.
Jealousy was the natural outcome, so now that the myth of "machines can't copy soul" has been broken. People are taking satisfaction in the high and mighty artists, being "brought down to reality."
