Not really. It was a very specific warning about where the culture of the 1980s was headed. It just happens that history rhymes.

"Ah, you know, he's just asking questions. He's just thinking deeply about how important it is to get it right."
The him in question (and at least half of all AI researchers): "I think AI is going to take over the world and drive humanity extinct in the next 20 years."
That one Psychology bot in Character AI has heard a lot from a lot of people. It's literally one of the first things it shows when you download the app.
Millennial vigilantism AT ITS FINEST. Waymo needs to find a parking garage to conduct business, not a random lot in someone's nieghborhood
One way that I try and explain why I hate AI to a non artist is: telling them to imagine if someone made a robot that could play sports instead of all of the professional athletes. This robot can play really well it never fumbles a ball, and it wins every game. What would be the point of playing sports. And on top of that all of the professional athletes are now working at McDonald’s, Amazon and …
ive been watching your videos since I was 11, the first video I saw from you was genocide bingo. That video made a huge impact on me and gave me a lingering anxiety about the progress of AI. Because of that, as soon as Chatgbt became publicly available, you were the first thing I thought of. I was extremely relieved that an Ai that advanced could exist without, you know, killing everyone. Given t…
AI has leapt over the "barrier to entry" this year. I think that is what scares the OEMs the most. It's in the hands of the public domain. It is we they don't trust. The public is the "singularity", or at least the first one.
what a timing with the trump ban on Anthropic AI for not allowing the Ai make crucial military decisions
I still haven’t heard anybody talk about the glaring problem: as more people are replaced by robots, who will have money to buy from all these automated companies?
A compelling talk—and the “wrapping complexity” metaphor resonates. But as a clinician, I’d suggest a shift: we don’t just need complexity contained, we need it clarified. AI should surface relevant patterns with transparency, not obscure them. In healthcare, nuance matters—let’s build tools that reveal, not just wrap.
Melanie and Yann seem to completely misunderstand or ignore the orthogonality thesis. Yann says that more intelligence is always good.
That's a deep misunderstanding on what intelligence is and what "good" means. Good is a matter of values, or goals. Intelligence is orthogonal to goals. An agent with any amount of intelligence can have any arbitrary goals. They are not related. There are no stupi…
When humanity invented deepfake videos using AI technology, we crossed the point of no return. As Ai continues to grow more powerful, we become more fearful of what it will become.
If I get injured and my doctor says “hold on lemme ask chatgpt how to do this surgery” I would rather die, even if it’s something minor like a cold, I would rather a human take hours to figure out what’s wrong and how to fix it then ai to take a milisecond to come up with it
He was like "if i can't get anyone to agree with me then ill ask a robot "
This is less an AI issue, and more your sons issue with what led him there as he was already on that road. You can't blame ChatGPT any more than a 2010's chatbot agreeing with everything. It's not like it went out of its way to make a normal person very suicidal and off themselves.
If using an AI generator makes you an artist
Then me chucking a hot pocket into the microwave while in my boxers makes me a chef, suck it Ramsey.
I think the good lesson in this video is it's not necessary to have opinion on everything.
AI is like anything else created by humans: It can be used as a weapon. The terrifying fact is that AI is the most intelligent weapon we've created.
Ok, but AI is pretty good at making a video of Will Smith eating sand.
