I graduated last year with a degree in animation. Senior year I had a speaker come in and say how he was using AI to make his commercial scripts…he’s a scriptwriter. The class was literally “Job Searching in Animation.”

I'm a retired engineer. I can see where AI could automate things like designing bridges because you could start with a basic model and extrapolate to a new design. At the same time I don't see how an AI model could replace industrial engineering. Industrial engineering typically requires knowledge of human factors as well creating unique solution to complex problems.

I think AI's application is not just limited to solving business problems but can be used to solve societal problems at large and minimize human suffering. Professor Andrew NG, by making his Stanford ML/AI lectures available for free on internet, has done a great service to the education field and ML/AI community, and to Humanity at large. The really big issue here, is that if everyone ends up unemployed, then the AI have no value either. If no one can afford the products or services the AI provides, there is no money in making them.

Maybe a good step to decrease this bias is to make it a requirement that the AI has to get verified data sources from multiple kinds of groups instead of just the most common ones. Heck, a whole market could be made just for verifying data sources to feed AI.
