You're asking very weird questions to an AI grad. Those folks know TensorFlow, Pandas, PyTorch, etc. They don't know Python concepts, just libs. And their repl is a Jupyter notebook hosted on Google Colab. They couldn't care less about where an object is stored in memory.
Ask him how a perceptron works. Ask what a loss function is. Ask how an optimizer works. Let him do a proof for the derivative of MSE. Ask him how he would clean and label a dataset. Ask him how to measure whether the training results are any good. Those are typical questions in an AI interview. Although I admit any dev should be able to answer those other questions as well.
