I couldn't imagine the privacy invasions going on right now for students in academic institutions. Between being watched on Wifi, Social Media, and now even being tracked who attends what class room via bluetooth and other tracking methods, it seems more like an adult day care or prison than an institution of higher learning.

It will never happen. I'm British and we're all too apathetic and disorganised to do anything drastic on mass like that. Our "Tut and go on with our day" attitude will be our undoing. People by and large would just call you a "tin foil hat wearer" and not listen. The few that would go as far as tearing down a facial recognition tower would just be arrested and a new tower erected soon after.
