AI will never be able to replace the human mind and imagination, it's just impossible

As someone who works with AI and has set up automation, the capabilities of these models, while highly useful for specific tasks, are severely overhyped. The media (who know sweet FA about AI) just parrot information without looking into facts. The Block layoffs for instance are actually a correction from drastic over-hiring during the pandemic. They just frame the cuts as AI efficiency and look …

I do see the possibility that the productivity we gain from AI will translate to more and more ambitious project or shorter development timelines. Ideas being tested in the market faster. It doesn't have to be just replacing developers with AI. It's not all doom and gloom for the future of programmers.

I didn’t expect this AI catastrophe to collapse this quickly, I’m hoping it is because I’m over it already. It’s uncomfortable and scary.

This might sound naive, but... related to the video game industry example, If AI-run companies end up (mostly) catering to wealthy asset owners, why not sell their products to the less fortunate masses at an absurdly low price - or free even? If freeware games turn out to be lucrative anyway, why not apply this model to everything else? If just to keep the poors as "entertainment"

"Why is the EU mentioned in the title when, despite having regulations, it's ineffective without any significant advancements in AI or robotics?"

*If the Algorithm doesn't find anything. Let the patient chose to have a human check. If the Algorithm finds something then a human will have to intervene anyway*

We need to stop anthropomorphising these algorithms. They dont "decide", "think" or "choose", they calculate. The danger is we are giving power and autonomy to an algorithm that we dont fully understand, and so we can't predict what conclusion our inputs will draw.

The fact that he went back to ask ChatGPT if the case was real or not is so funny 😂

How can engineering be so automated if lots of it is field work and working with changeable variables and being limited on options for example civil engineering has an engineer check the building structure for safety and resistance to corrosion, water pumps, irrigation of rain water and sewage and sanitation of the building . I don’t see how so may be able to replace that especially the field wor…

The difference between worries bout an AI Apocalypse and historical worries is that the people who are most worried about AI destroying humanity are those who know the most about the subject. They are people who generally love technology, which is why they became AI researchers. These are people who embrace technology and change, and it is those very people who say we are speeding towards a cli…

5:47 I have another opinion: it's not that you didn't realize this early — I believe you did realize it, but you didn't care, because you wanted to be famous and to be seen as a scientist. You saw this as an opportunity, and you believed you could make it happen and turn AI into something real. Basically, you ignored the dangers and didn't care, because it wasn’t your priority

I started working in the early to mid 1990s during the initial rise of the Internet. I recall at that time older workers would resist changing their workflow; many would still insist on dictating letters to secretaries while younger workers were embracing email. Now being an older worker myself I am vowing not to stay set in my ways and am staying up to date with the latest AI tools. I am also le…

We need to understand what “training” means in this context. I don’t think AI is “learning” or being “trained.” It’s stealing. If AI companies want to do this, they could confine themselves to works that are out of copyright and are in the public domain. They don’t need to use recently published works.

I love the argument AI Artest gives is that "AI art is more accessible."🤣 Last time I checked, Frida Kahlo didn't use AI.

What a genuinely nice man. Need more like him. And let's listen to his warnings about AI and take action.

Ironically, the managers who pushed those decisions are more suitable to be replaced by an AI.

This is a mental health problem, not a AI problem. These people are grieving and looking for answers anywhere they can find them.

I love Bernie Sanders. But it is pathetic that he is still one of the Left's and the Democratic Party's best communicators. We need a new guard to deliver these messages, competently and compassionately.
