I remember reading a couple years ago that gait recognition is gonna be the new facial recognition. Either way, why on earth would you be okay with giant corporations or governments tracking you that specifically? There's thousands of implications to that

Its name was Ghandi in an attempt to appear kind, but no one ever dreamed it would go... Atomic.

I see this as an inevitable step wiht AI proliferation. We spend a decade or two on training humans not shitting in the soup bowl, not calling aunt Erma an "unfuckable blubber cow " - at least not in her face, and not to shout "fire" in a crowded theatre. Why should we not do that for AI?

ChatGPT isn't really trained for that task, it's trained on a huge amount of text from the internet and then a branch of it is finetuned to follow a question/answer format which pulls on that knowledge and understanding of a million different concepts. If you were to finetune one specifically on movie/tv scripts, using some sort of compression to describe other parts of the script to fit within …

I'm sure this will only be beneficial to cooperation and Silicon valley tech bros. Jobs will not be protected.

No, the ruling says that an image made by a computer system which is designed to generate images autonomously, without human involvement, is not copyrightable. Read it yourself; it's linked in the article.

And you'd think they'd have zero issues with a former TV personality from outside the establishment getting into politics.

While GPT is still better, but Bard is really good at academic knowledge oddly enough.

Wait what? I didn't think GPT could do stuff like that? It doesn't actually have anything in mind as it cannot think, right? And does that mean that GPT's answers are random up until the correct guess? Edit: I played around a bit. I think I was mostly right, but it seems like it likes to wait till the end with the yes. https://chat.openai.com/share/2c51c099-e0a3-4381-87fb-cc6b120ceac2

Yeah and it will be increasingly every year as long as open sourced ai stuff exists. As long as ppl can make stuff with their own hardware locally it's impossible to control.

Well, he’s a professor researching the area of AI safety at an institute that researches and publicises the subject of AI safety. I’m not sure “crackpot” is the best description (unless you have a doctorate I’m unaware of and some secret knowledge on the matter). I’m also moderately curious as to how talking about it “muddles the water”. Granted, the guy is pushing the book he’s written, and the…

notice how most of the problems with AI don't come from the AI itself, but the creators' attempts to impose their shit moral compass.

Gemini AI basically shown people wtf people are talking about what we say our society today is "too woke". I wonder if this was done purposefully demonstrate their point or if this was just the result of the wokeness that is rotting within even google's most cutting edge team.

And I look forward to that. In a world of AI, automation, and robots, society must provide everyone with free nourishment, shelter, education, healthcare, transportation, communication, basically everything except for entertainment and luxuries. What’s the point of living longer than ever if we aren’t spending our lives doing what we want to do?

Except they already don't hide it. The point is that generative AI is so transformative that it doesn't matter, unless some bad actor is trying to get a specific overfit. And those bad actors are the ones who should be liable if they try earning money with copyrighted content.

Sorry, no. Regular people's lives will be ruined by deep fakes. Remember how much weight untrue rumors had in school? Politicians, on the other hand, can get away with just about anything now, because their armies of attorneys and PR control teams can dismiss photo/video/audio evidence as a deepfake now.

Sure but no one anywhere in a developed country wants to work for poor pay (in the states, trade work is romanticized)

It's incredibly stupid and shortsighted. The technology is already out of the Pandora's box. In reality this is a foot-in-the-door technique to regulating the whole internet. >As Platformer observes, the bill raises an age-old question: should the person using the tech be blamed, or the tech itself? With regards to social media, the law says that generally, websites can't be held accountable …
