Sounds like a good play by them. People hate using a neutered AI that can't describe violence or make jokes. I just hope they roll back the shit they already added.

For a brief moment, it seemed like Microsoft might actually have been pulling ahead and challenging Google's search engine dominance. But in typical Microsoft fashion, they played it too safe and squandered any potential advantage they could have had. Instead of fully utilizing Bing AI to impress users and win them over, they released a gimped version that impressed nobody. Of course by the time…

Does any other country regulate AI? Nope. So... thats not a news. Upd: wrong. Italy banned chatGPT (for now only chatGPT), and EU planning to probably do it too.

My impression is that its timidity also makes it more stupid. As if there's only so much thinking it can do, with more and more of that being wasted in supporting openai's ethical worldview. It feels bait-and-switchy.

Do people even know what CEOs do? Because let me tell you, that's not something you can delegate to ChatGPT.

I don't think you would want to see a constitution that was written today actually be implemented. The moral compass and intellectualism of the early members of American government is unparalleled in American history. A constitution written today would be written by corporations and rubber stamped by legislators. Do you think any member of congress is writing a federalist paper right now?

The technology is only as good as the people who made it. If you create a system and only train it/program it with white people as test subjects, it’s going to have an extremely hard time with black, brown, and Asian people. My Canon digital Elph point and shoot camera had facial recognition 16 years ago, [but it couldn’t pick up on a black person’s face.](https://imgur.com/a/TYbLMCg).

> This is a great question and something we don’t have an answer to. Yeah, we do. Unless the AI was actually trained on images of nude underage persons, it's not going to be CP. Putting the face of an underage person on the body of someone over 18, doesn't make it CP.

Because all of the publicly accessible AI tools are specifically gated to not allow themselves to create content with copyrighted characters. You can sometimes get around it by pulling tricks on the prompt like claiming that the copyright has already expired, but it's far from foolproof and you can expect to see those kinds of exploits disappear over time. People have to just really accept the …

> Lifelike/realistic porn fakes of celebs have been thing since photoshop and probably even before that. Back in 1998 when the internet was pretty fresh there were very realistic photoshops of celebrities on a now defunct website BSNude, aka Britney Spears Nude. This is nothing new at all, the only difference is the buzz word "AI" instead of "Photoshop". I have no idea how they are goi…

Phhht it's much darker than that. Using aggregate data analysis software like Palantir to manufacture consensus using AI generated propaganda campaigns that utilize dark patterns in a way where, we don't even realize we are being manipulated. In concept this is something that the US government has been aware of for awhile and even experimented with as far back as 2010 when it hired a PR compan…

Don't you want porn to be ai. Then nobody gets hurt. I assume in a decade or two. Chat gpt like. You'll enter your scenario or parameters and porn will be made for you. Isn't that kinda like the point of technology. So we don't need to work. Ubi for the win. Then we can focus on important things. Our health the planet. Helping those in need. Not green line goes up and bezoz buys anoth…

Yeah totally get where you coming from. The workforce is steadily shrinking though. Upwork reported a 20 percent decline. I honestly expected more. I suspect that there are still a lot of employers who are old and have no clue of what ChatGPT is hence still paying for translations or there are still a bit distrustful towards tech in general. But once the younger x-generation, millenials and genz …

would there also be a news article about this actress breaking down in tears if someone had just convincingly photoshopped her face onto porn? what is the functional difference here? what is the motivation of this news outlet to push this story, except to gin up public sentiment to put AI tech only in the hands of governments and corporations?

The title is classic rage/click bait. The man started using ACTUAL child abuse images, then edited them. The title makes it sound as if AI generated all the images. Edit: nvm
reddit AI Harm Incident resp: none mixed outrage ♥ 48 → raw LLM
No. The AI part matters. Real predators are taking innocent photos of children and using AI to make obscene pictures. This man did that along with everything else he did. Everyone who posts photos of their children online is now potentially at risk of having their children turned into child porn because of how AI can do this. And because that wasn't wonderful enough, people browsing AI porn are…

This is why I'm excited. We have the algorithms now. It doesn't matter if it has some Chinese censorship, everyone can just build their own R1 using their technique. You could even just distill from their reasoning output. Which is completely accessible unlike o1. That's the beauty of open sourcing things.

Hindsight is 20/20. Also, we already stripped down our militaries after years of peace and after crisises like the financial and covid.
