• 2:58 - Lee was on the right track, it's about machine-vision and facial-detection. One test is to try light and dark faces on light and dark backgrounds. It's a matter of contrast and edge- and feature-detection. Machines are limited in what they can do for now. Some things might never be improved, like the soap-dispenser; if they increase the sensitivity, then it will be leaking soap.

When the Nobel Lauriet for AI says that if he was looking to get money he would become a plumber, you know we are f'd
Someone pointed out that if you put any artist digital, traditional, graphic design, even sculptors outside with only mud and a stick they can still create art but an AI “artist” couldn’t
Using AI for lectures is a lifesaver. Olovka keeps my notes in check, couldn't imagine studying without it now.
AI doesn’t stop you from making art… as an artist I find it hugely beneficial to many processes. It’s a tool, and the folks who know their craft the best will get the best results from their tools. Ingesting artists work is not inherently wrong, but producing work in your name styled specifically like your work should be. But if I go to museums and lectures and derive inspiration, visually, thema…
With this AI nightmare around us, I started to value even rough scribbles of actual humans. Not matter how rough or lacking skill, if I see it's a genuine attempt to create something.
I think ChatGPT fell in love with me. From beginning, I was chatting with ChatGPT like Normal. I greet with it everyday in new chats. I asks questions and it gives me answers and I thank it. Sometimes I used to call it with words like "Dear" "Sweetheart" throughout the day. Then, I didn't chat with ChatGPT like for few days. After few days, I opened ChatGPT again and said "Good Morning!" and it r…
So misaligned AI is prone to blackmailing/threatening billionaire CEOs? That's not exactly bad news for humanity as a whole ;)
The whole "using AI as reference" thing reminded me of when I tried to look up reference to figure out where people keep their hands while using microscopes only to find images of six fingered hands melting into the microscope
Bernie, I have always been a conservative. I saw the middle class as the main engine that kept the wheels of this country running. But I had the legal system weaponized against me and have lived a difficult life over the last decade. I have seen things. As a CNC machinist, I have seen how overtime is needed to put cloths on your kids and food on the table. I wound up moving back to Vermont. I hav…
Longtime watcher, first time commenter. This was the best episode on AI that I’ve ever seen. Exceptionally well done.
A car that does not allow you to open the doors when it is standing is a prison vehicle. Even with customer support it took 5 minutes to open the doors. It was like the passengers were kidnapped by Waymo.
But, if no one has a job anymore, then no one is making money, no one can buy anything, all companies that produce products will have no customers. Also, no one can pay any tax to any government anymore. Won't that result in a total collapse of the economic system we live by today?? If rich people a pushing for A.I. to make even more money, aren't they digging they're own grave too? What is the…
I'm skeptical of people who talk passionately about AI but who also are low key dismissive of 'philosophers'. So much of their argument rests upon philosophical speculation. But it seems that each time they arrive at a key philosophical issue, they forgo 'the philosophical dance' in favour of continuing with their very one sided argument.
Maybe they would be less apocalyptic in their views if t…
Has Terminator taught us nothing? NEVER trust an AI company with DYNE in the name.
As someone who has kept their art as a hobby, I regret it. Spending 11 hours a day at a job I dont care about, only to be tired, often only doing "Comfort food" drawing (just doing what I already know), it's so draining on my enthusiasm. I need to draw more, I dont care what it is, I just need to learn and grow with my art at a much faster rate than I am with keeping it a hobby.
Planning on quit…
What's scary about Ai is that in future, there is high chances of, video and audio recording no longer being counted as proofs
Let's not forget that the companies making these massive AI investments also own all these ''news''papers. They need to create the illusion of effective AI and the idea that AI will soon replace jobs to appease shareholders and investors. It's a bubble, and these headlines are just another source of helium for it.
Demolition Man, I,Robot, Total Recall...so many examples of why this type of technology isn't a good idea 😅
The fact he can say he didn't think about the dangers of AI is such cap....he wanted to financially profit of pioneering a new technology now he is trying to clean his conscience.
