@kerduslegend2644funny how u say that.. ur minimizing what chefs do and focusing only on the content itself instead of what it took to get to that end goal. ur priorities takes the chef for granted, esp when it took chef knowledge to create the microwave meals. should we abandon the chefs and only eat microwaved meals from now on since the only thing that matters is being fed? of course no…
Sort of. But California is not a particularly unique outlier. Rather, it’s share of GDP is pretty proportional to its share of population. California’s population is 39.5 million people, out of the roughly 327.2 million people in the U.S., meaning they account for 12.1% of the US population. Their GDP is [$2.94 trillion](https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-04-24/california-economy-soa…
There's lots of modern Chinese cars now, though.
However all the cool taxis are still old cars maintained through ingenuity and probably black magic.
News reported that WHO offered kits to US initially, but CDC rebuffed them saying they would make their own.
The scary thing is the "facial" bit is less and less relevant in identifying a person.
I work for the Aussie gov and trialed system that relies on head and shoulder height from the ground to track a person using AI and stereo vision.
At the same time bluetooth MAC address is sniffed out using devices that are locared on every corner and are tuned to track vehicle movement.
Combine the two and…
> What about algorithms that make life and death decisions?
So here's an example of where we let an AI make life and death decisions with no human override ability: the Maeslantkering storm barrier here in the Netherlands. It will *only* close if the system decides it has to do so. Humans don't get to press the button to close the barrier and there is no override.
Why did we decide to do th…
When you train AI on a dataset, the AI gains all the biases inherent in the dataset. So yes, in your example, training your speech recognition AI using only people from Boston for instance, would leave it poorly equipped to deal with people with other accents. The problem is that we are often unaware of our own biases, so it's very hard to craft truly representational data sets to train AI on.

It's been hundreds of thousands of years, and we don't even have a way to prove that any other **human** is conscious. Then how would you prove that an AI is or not ?
I am assuming OP means the market shifting to hiring more devs to fix messes introduced by AI.
I got served a few of these AI interviews, you know what happens!? You go through this long and tedious discussion with tests etc, along with possibly hundreds of other applicants with ZERO time investment from the company. It's insulting how little they value our time, I refuse those AI pipelines outright.
I've never seen a more visceral description of somebody approaching "AI psychosis" than that fucking post I just read.
What this does tell me is we’re fucked with ai. Mow that Trump has approved Grok for gov workers lord know what musk will tell it to do. Face value this is funny but in actuality, assuming it’s a prank, it sucks. And I’m afraid for our figure ugh
Edit: omg so many errors here. I haven’t slept all night. Good grief
13:55 and they call us arrogant and ignorant for not caring for people who "cant make art because they werent born with talent" while actively turning a blind eye to artists being robbed and downplaying it (sorry ai art thieves get me so angry)
The AIs are learning what people want them to say. Just like the Youtube AI algorithm learns what users click on and watch. Soon conversations with these AI bots will be very addicting for most people.
This interview is a real wake-up call. Geoffrey Hinton knows the risks better than almost anyone, and his worries about job loss, inequality, and democracy are serious. We need to listen to his warning, push for regulation, and think carefully about the power we're handing over to AI. If we don't face these issues now, the future could get out of control fast.
Dude... Dude. This is my first time being able to catch a show at launch. This one actually made my heart rate rise, mostly because I'm well aware of the risks that AI poses. Ignorance really is bliss.
Awesome show though.
I kept waiting for the "let's debunk this section" with more expectation that I ever have. =)
Thank goodness I'm nearing the end of my career as a graphic designer. I think all the arts are in a perilous state due to AI. Already we are seeing fashion houses dumping entire art departments and models. This is just the beginning. Whole skill sets will be lost. I fear for the future.
AI is getting out of control. I remember studying the potential effects of AI years ago at University, was terrified then and terrified now. Yes if used properly then it can have significant benefits. However, it’s being misused in the most disruptive way possible. Especially when it comes to art, literature, music etc….
Just imagining his PCP dying inside as AJ talks about how he studied nutrition in college and uses chatGPT for nutritional advice.
AI is truly the magnum-opus of oligarchy. A cancerous monster draining our power grids, poisoning small communities, and fueling the disinformation machine, all to cut jobs to funnel profits upward. Cheap, soulless, dangerous thing built from sheer avarice.
