It wasn’t really solely because of the AI. It was the example they used to present the AI. They gave the AI and gave it tasks but didn’t tell it how to move or function, so the body started dragging itself around scraping its head on the ground using it like a foot with no regard to its health or safety. The men said they might implement this into a grotesque zombie game or something and Miyazaki…

The issue with Elon’s statement is this- he is so incredibly rich, his children, grandchildren and probably great grandchildren will likely never have to worry about working for survival. So they can just focus on “what they find interesting.” Anybody who actually has to worry about money and survival, are totally screwed.

It's incredible how there are people making excuses for AI and maliciously thanking that they will no longer have to pay artists and that it's making them "cry." It reminds me of that discussion I saw on Facebook because some dude used AI on someone else's drawing, the artist said the example of "it's like painting over the Mona Lisa and saying you fixed it" and that person responded "if I fix…

i knew guys like this whilst doing my cs degree many years ago (before we had chatgpt). they spent their whole time at uni screwing around gaming or with their new friends, trying to be cool/popular, and cheating any way they could. they just weren't serious about their education at all. all of them are working shitty jobs today. don't be like this guy and the guys at my uni. if u are at this lev…

Crossed two white lines. On entry to junction and when leaving. That's two strikes and an automatic fail on EU driving license. Twice.

You joke, but we're actually almost there. A guy had Alexa wired up to his smart lights and networked ac/heater. He orders a package from amazon and his smart doorbell automatically says something along the lines of how can I help you. The driver reports that he said something racist and Amazon immediately locks up his account. This made it so Alexa would no longer work and he couldn't control h…

@grimm_comics just because something is intelligent doesn't mean it's compassionate. In the original Blade Runner book, you're supposed to be like, "are androids like us?" up until a point where three androids torture the pet spider of a mentally disabled man. At that point you're like, "Oh, the appearance of humanity doesn't guarantee humanity, loyalty, or kindness."

I doubt it. The *only* people who want a legalized trade in rhino horn are rhino farmers who stand to make a lot of money. Virtually all conservation groups have been warning against opening up a legal supply of horn, because *every single time* something like that has been tried, poaching ends up getting way worse. In 2008, for example, CITES (the international group that regulates internation…

But South Korea already has [Automated Turrets](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_SGR-A1?wprov=sfla) on the border? They, can identify and track targets by themselves, and are clearly already equipped for lethal combat, sporting a 5.56x.45mm 1000rpm LMG and a 40mm Grenade launcher. Most interesting to me, they've been in use for >10 years why draw the line here?

By Anthony G. Attrino | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com Editor’s note: This article has been updated to include a statement from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office. When Nijeer Parks walked out of a New Jersey prison in 2016, he returned to his family in Paterson and told them he was done messing up his life. Twice convicted for selling drugs, Parks spent six years behind bars and said he dec…

It does seem like governments are taking it a lot more seriously, and trying to react more quickly to it, than the previous variants. With Delta, they were thinking/discussing/waiting until it was in their countries before they closed borders. It's still going to spread everywhere eventually given that it's already in Europe (can't effectively close the land borders, especially not at this point…

There’s plenty of people who know how to make AI, it’s just making one on the scale of OpenAI requires immense resources and computing power that isn’t currently feasible for individuals or small teams of course, OpenAI was a startup once too and now they’re receiving funding from Microsoft so I guess it’s possible

[We've known for a while that facial recognition barely works and even then it's only really for white men that they have a degree of accuracy.](https://www.fastcompany.com/90354348/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-congress-face-recognition-hearing-ai-bias) Probably because that's primarily who programmed it and what it was trained on, but there's not a real financial incentive to actually fix it since i…

I think you're selling the capability short. You could start with a prompt, and have it track all sorts of biometrics like vision focus, to then be able to adjust from there after learning your preferences, and just generate and endless stream of content that is designed to maximize addiction above all else.
