Or we could just stop turning to ignorant children in our search for solutions to the problem.
How do countries that ban gun ownership do it? Guns also aren't some highly specialized technology that requires specific hardware that you could restrict.
Just because you can't preemptively stop a crime doesn't make a law making it a crime useless. There's very probably many people who illegally own guns in such countries. But if they are ever used and it becomes public they can be held acc…
Big oil maybe, but the loudest voice against nuclear is the extreme environmentalists who shout wind, solar or nothing cause it's not disruptive enough on the society. People in the middle ground on this argument have been saying nuclear almost since the discussion started.
Aren't Dalits usually dark skinned Indians with more Southern origin while Brahmin are more light skinned with significant Iranian admixture?
You’re using all emotions and no logic.
The vaccines were made by private organizations spending billions of their own dollars in research. They wouldn’t have developed it at all if they thought they wouldn’t make a profit let alone break even.
It’s due to the profit motive and patents existing that we were able to get a vaccine in 1 year, where most pandemics take 20-30 years for a vaccine. …
And unfortunately one of the takeaways of the vaccine mess is going to be that welfare states/universal healthcare systems are going to struggle to procure medicines unless they have close ties with big pharma (UK and Israel). The EU situation may set back the center left for years.
To be fair most of the people who said that did turn out to be Nazis.
Also, we can get mental health support to people if they need it. No need to let a pandemic rage out of control and cause a whole generation to have lifelong long-Covid health problems, medical bankruptcies, etc in order to avoid a much smaller, manageable problem.
And doctors are experiencing burnout and suicide at a higher…
Ahhh yes, the ole colorblind theory being applied to gender. Because burying your head in the sand and pretending one group isn't suffering more solves all problems, amirite?
I'm fine if an algorithm discriminates against certain groups as long as the underlying data was generated by the behavior of those groups and not the behavior of (possibly biased) people serving those groups. In other words, if people get higher loan rates it needs to be because they traditionally have a lower rate of paying back loans, not because (biased) loan officers have just always given t…
AI based facial recognition is inherently racist because of the inputs. If it’s going to be used, we need to be able to see the weights on what determines everything.
Should we be surprised that this is a black man?
BTW this is not a case against facial recognition: they used someone not present at the time of crime to pick this guy’s photo from a lineup, after facial recognition. Clearly wrong procedure if you ask me.
it’s not about malice, just innate bias in humans. the algorithms most likely have the bias of its creators coded into it. check out the documentary Coded Bias, it was fascinating.
there was a big section about twitters HR AI that they use. it had bias coded into it, and straight up rejected any application that had the word “woman” on it.
Bring on the AI overlords, I’d rather have an AI as my leader than a human. Humans are inherently lazy and usually take the easiest and most immediately profitable path. A robot leader would make logical decisions for the betterment of all of us. Maybe it’ll find that killing us all ends up solving all of our problems, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take.
I could tell a deep fake pretty much right away. How can you not see what's a deep fake?
I not an expert but i don't think thats how these things work. Ai usually do one thing really well. Detecting and creating deep fakes are literally opposites.
Germany laughed at Trump when he told them they’d be dependent on Russian oil. Boy are people fucking stupid.
The true advancements with these supper/quantum computers and AI programs are 10 -15 years ahead of what the public sees as possibility. The Secret government programs ran by the NSA and CIA are far ahead of what most people can comprehend. The rate of Evolution in technology becomes accelerated very quickly every year thing get faster, smaller and better. We have hit a point of no retur…
Lol westerners think he is extreme, while indian think he is not extreme enough.
Too much appeasement from him tbh , can easily win Election without muslim votes still goes for appeasement and Muslims don't vote for BJP either way.
Great comment. A lot of people in this thread seem oblivious to the massive advantages of ChatGPT and its eventual competitors. Banning AI chatbots is like banning the Internet at this point. It would be wildly stupid of any government to deprive their citizens of a tool this useful.
I'm sorry to hear that. As an AI language model, I don't have direct knowledge of any such ban, but I can say that privacy concerns are an important issue when it comes to technology and data protection. Many countries and organizations have strict regulations in place to protect user privacy and ensure that personal information is handled responsibly.
It's important for companies and organizati…
