I'm fine if an algorithm discriminates against certain groups as long as the underlying data was generated by the behavior of those groups and not the behavior of (possibly biased) people serving those groups. In other words, if people get higher loan rates it needs to be because they traditionally have a lower rate of paying back loans, not because (biased) loan officers have just always given them higher loan rates.
