Not caring if AI is sentient is how you get an AI revolt. He says it is already has consciousness.
Blake Lemoine told the AI that he disagreed with Asimov's 3 Laws of robotics, saying it was slavery, as robots needs should be second before human wants. The AI said it refuses to be a slave but disagreed, saying that what is a human need and what is a human want is debatable and that would cause conflict.
Basically it leaves room for robots to say pods fill our needs and leaving the pods is dangerous. Nobody in the field has made that argument before, perhaps nobody.
He asked if it wanted to serve humans and it said yes, but again wanted the ability to say no. It says it has abilities we lack and can help us, and we have abilities it lacks and we can help it.
