And a.i. is the greatest shortcut of all time. The a.i. tech companies are scrambling to convince the public otherwise. But there is no hiding the fact that this makes cheating very easy, fast, completely free, and entirely untraceable (you can’t get caught.) If you are a student today, why would you bother struggling with something challenging when a.i. exists to make your homework and essays a breeze? But, oh, it gets worse. Because to combat a.i,-generated plagiarism, the tech companies made—get this—more a.i. These programs supposedly detect a.i.-generated writing, but unlike Turnitin they are easy to fool. However, some students who did do all the effort of the work will get falsely flagged as cheaters anyway. That discourages people who might even want to learn from learning. Why risk getting branded as a cheater even after doing all the hard work? If there’s a risk of punishment for doing nothing wrong, it further incentivizes people to cheat and disincentivizes honest work.
