Both the US and Chine innovate and profit by not respecting they civilians rights. Considering this, no country gonna innovate better than them if they can use human resources and the other cant. Just like in WW2. Both Germany and Japan tested not just weapons, but a bunch of things on people. From ice to fire everything. We actually use those knowledge nowadays, so they innovated, but using people. I know the two thing is very far away, but would offer your private calls, photos, messages to train AI? Neither China nor in the US they will ask you actually... What I want to say with my maybe random monologue is as long as those countries can freely use they human resources the more citizen respecting countries are not gonna keep up the speed.
