art is the expression of personal beliefs, thoughts, or emotions and is self-expression
Duchamp didn't make art since it was not self-expression nor did he contribute to any emotion, thoughts, or beliefs being made, he just signed it for credit which is just theft at that point [idk much on the situation im just taking ur recount of it]
art does not have to be appealing, it just has to express a point or feeling
AI "Art" isn't art BECAUSE it isn't made a person, its an algorithm, its just putting together what works and the data it finds to achieve a task-- not self-expression since its obviously not a person, and any expression of "thoughts" and "emotion" aren't really true and are more so just statements it thinks the recipient wants
