I own a business and work in tech services & do consultancy
the only growth area now in our space is in worker augmentation / efficiency / ai tools
last week we deployed an app which will be doing 90% of the job of a retiring employee - 1000x faster, always on demand, much cheaper long term - they're chuffed. it chomps through a month of work all night long and costs peanuts to run.
but we basically just killed a single job which would have come to market - no big deal a single job - but it is at scale
next week we can sell the same forked codebase to 1k companies
the medical example is misleading as there will always be infinite demand there and historically not enough capacity
businesses will be reducing headcount big time in the coming years
