This question has an incredibly obvious answer: entertainment. People want to be entertained, and art provides entertainment to people. AI art can absolutely do so as well. Furthermore, AI art absolutely has thought behind it, it has to be prompted after all, and usually there are specific characteristics the prompter (who, by the way, is a person behind the art even if the AI is doing the actual drawing - similar to a conductor in a sense) wants the AI to output
