Here’s what I struggle with in this whole concept. Where does AI find the motivation to do anything? If somehow it does become smarter than humans, where does purpose come in? Currently, Claude does things for me because I ask it to. As far as I'm aware, Claude isn’t out there creating, say, a new iPhone app for its own reasons (yet). AI isn’t trying to cure cancer because it’s wants to earn a Nobel Prize and save millions of lives. It’s doing these things because we are providing purpose. I think humans find motivation and purpose as an outgrowth of experience, sensations, emotions, or any number of complex and mysterious evolutionary aspects of our brains.
