Great question and honestly one that doesn't get asked enough. You're right it's not falsifiable, at least not with the tools we have now. But that last part is what really gets me thinking. Why do we want it? Maybe it says more about our own loneliness as a species than it does about AI. Or maybe we're just hoping that if consciousness can arise in something we built, it means we understand ourselves better than we actually do. Either way really grateful for this comment. It cuts right to the heart of it.
