The point is about convenience for corpos, publishers and sometimes even customers and commissioners. Unfortunately, for some people cheaper means better, even when the quality is lacking, and despite those people being the absolute worst to work for for professionals with standards, sometimes they're the ones who pay your bills. The problem with generative AI is that it gives a huge help to anyone who doesn't care about artists and just want to exploit their work, and reducing everything to "artists being angry because they feel threatened" conveniently forgetting that it's not art as a whole, but livelihood and value of craftsmanship to be threatened just shows that you don't know much about how this sector works, especially in specific States. I live in Italy, and i could give you an endless list of publishers who prefer bad AI-made slop to human-made ones for the sake of saving those few € people would have made. Sure, this is a problem with Italy as a whole, but pretending that generative AI doesn't exagerrate it is hypocritical at best.
