Another angle on why copying/implimenting styles is way less problematic than AI regurgitation is that when someone learns another person's styles, they are furthering the craft. In the process of mimickry, humans are 'creating models' in their head to synthesize into something that's altogether unique, because the scope of a person's 'training' is beyond just ink to page (or screen, whatever.) If everyone collectively agreed to stop drawing themselves and just used AI image generation, the ability to synthesize new art would degrade, and approach a mean instead of continuously branching out and exploring new spaces, finding new pockets of style to develop and expand, and potentially rippling out into all new means of expression.
AI, in its current form, is stagnation, not development.
