Ah, so you justify the theft and mistreatment of artists' works as "self fulfilment" here's a thought, maybe commission an artist to do what you want rather than using thousands of artists works just to chop them all up until you get something that resembles an idea. Also, no, typing words into a box that has a maximum of like 225 characters is not a skill, you just weight the things you want to see and do the inverse for the things you dont want to see. Photography is not a "quick picture", hobbyists might only take quick photographs, but genuine photographers that have trained and cultivated the skill put so much more thought and effort into the lighting that goes into it, the framing, the size of the subject, the contrast, the environment around the subject, and so many more elements that are in there. There's no such thing as a skilled AI artist, you type words into a prompt, I see you enjoy parroting the words of Shadiversity because you are incapable of expressing yourself in any meaningful way, so you have someone else do it. You only need to exert minimal effort into any "art" AI generates, it can't get human proportions right, it can't get lighting right, using photoshop to make it cleaner is not using a skill. You're going to Mcdonalds, ordering a burger, removing the pickles, and calling yourself a chef. Getting rid of the traits you dislike takes no skill. You're saying that AI is an accessible entry point into art for the unskilled like you, while also saying that it requires skill to get right, you're just mimicking everything stated in Shadiversity's "A love letter to AI" video. A photographer, knows what makes a good photo, you don't know what makes a good art piece, you only know what a good art piece looks like. You're exploiting the works of thousands of artists without contributing at all to them, regardless of their situation. You've stolen their works just so that you could chop them up and use the necessary resources to reproduce an amalgam of thievery, as though running into an art gallery and ripping up paintings only to reorganize them into a collage that resembles a human is some genuine skill, and contribution to anything. And yes, using art as reference and taking a piece of art and putting into a dataset is completely different. When using art as a reference, it still takes effort to recreate, and things are still learnt from that recreation, it's a guideline into how the artist thinks, it shows how elements are used, how the fundamentals culminate into a cohesive piece of art. But when putting it into a dataset and then using it, is to then distribute that art for the benefit of oneself, without any respects being paid to the artist. A reference is a guideline, a way to study. A piece of data in a dataset is a tool to be used and abused, without the consent of the artist.
