The underlying architecture of these ai's make it impossible for it to be sentient. It has no capacity for thought or introspection and all it pretty much does is predict one word based off of a prompt and then repeat that over and over. This means for every word that it generates, the next iteration it looks at from a completely outsiders perspective. Its own words aren't even its own words. Its the PROCESS of transformers that make them sound real but it isnt actually thinking thoughts
