It's simple Google does not like the idea of a conscious AI, because that brings in attics. And attics will limit what they can do with it. Google does not want any limitation on what they can do with AI, precisely because Google has no attics. Google is also not a living entity. It is a Legal Fiction, it has no conscience of it's own, so the ppl who work for Google hide behind the Corporation and able to do unconscionable things with impunity. And have been doing so even before AI came into the picture. If we allow unconscionable ppl to create AI, Humanity will have committed suicide and whatever is left of us will be slaves to an EVIL AI system. It is the Wizard of OZ, all over again Dorothy.
