It’s not about some evil billionaires malevously directing processes to take everything away from others while having a choice to do better for the working class. From their perspective it’s automate or die. Yes they are unreasonably wealthy now, but if they don’t go along with the revolutionary force now, their companies will be broke quickly, their shares worth nothing and therefor they themselves would be broke. And all the employees working for their companies would lose their jobs even to a greater extent than what AI causes. And then you would be talking here about stimulus checks. Now about your five step proposal. While the idea is nice, again the economic processes (not the few billionaires) work against it. Jobs are lost -> bigger competition for whats left -> less room for negotiating shorter workweeks, company ownership etc. And if Americans would mandate those things by law then they would quickly lose their position as worlds economic power as other countries who do automate without those working class benefits would just race ahead. Don’t believe me? Then just look at US vs China production in the last 20 years. It’s the same thing but faster. I love your work Bernie, but this time I think you haven’t got anything resembling to a plan.
