I agree with you, but that perspective mainly comes from someone who is an artist or highly self-aware. Let me try to give more information about the problem as an artist myself. Most people are just consumers, they’re not thinking deeply, and they often lack awareness. The problem is that a large percentage of people see art the same way as that youtuber does, as a finished product. They don’t care about the process or the story behind it. Company founders and leaders don’t want to pay 50 artists to work on a single project for a week anymore. Instead, they keep only a few senior or lead-level artists, maybe 10 of them, who use AI to generate content, make some modifications, and complete the same project in a day or two. It’s all about business, how to do things faster, cheaper, and more efficiently. The sentance that is said in the industry is - start using it or be left behind. So you feel like you don't have a choice, merge with it or stop doing art as a profession. This isn’t art in the traditional sense anymore, it’s applied art within an industry. You work for someone and do what they want in order to get paid, which is usually mainstream content and there isn't much art in that. It's all about money making. Open positions for junior and mid-level artist roles are becoming increasingly rare, where there are new positions like AI artist, AI designer which are in bigger and bigger demand. I want to remind you guys that we live in shitty civilization that is evolving towards dystopian future, so it's all nice to have mental masturbation how things should be in order to be good and right, but there is little room for that since usually people who are trully good don't have power to change. The reality is simple, AI can create high-quality results quickly and at very low cost. Of course companies and corporations want to use it. They only need a handful of artists to prompt, edit, and publish the output. That means demand for artists has dropped dramatically, leaving many unemployed. And not just many, like a really fucking good artists with lots of experience are fired and made redundant. And for those trying to find work, the number of available positions is so small that it feels nearly impossible. So a lot of them are forced to start doing something completely different in order to pay the bills. Everything has changed. This is a major revolution, arguably even bigger than the industrial revolution. I assume this is just the beginning, who knows how long this will last and what will be the end result. No one can predict the future right now. Everyone is confused and tired. I spoke to a lot of artists and people over the industry - seniors, leads... It's all fucked up and need time to be rebuilt, but the future won't be the same as past, some positions will be dead, new ones will come. If you want to pursue art independently, that’s a different path, but it comes with its own set of challenges. How do you connect with people through your story, your emotions, your authentic self? Very few artists are capable of doing that at a meaningful level. It's not anymore about static beautiful images and there’s no space anymore for beginners, or for those who aren’t pushing creative boundaries. The concept of being an artist is shrinking, it's becoming something reserved for a select few who are truly exceptional. These are difficult times for anyone who dreams of becoming an artist.
