People apparently don't understand that the "A" in AI actually means the intelligence itself is artificial, or in other words it's not really intelligence, it's merely the appearance of intelligence. It doesn't mean a real intelligence hosted inside an artificial medium (i.e. computer).
Machines are not sentient. They will never be sentient. That's because you can't program emotion. You can program a machine to say things that appear emotional, but the machine itself will never actually feel those emotions. It's just an illusion, no different than a stage magician sawing someone in half.
The entire concept of "AI" is a fraud. It's just software, running on hardware - programs processing data input and producing an output, the exact usefulness of which is highly dubious, to everyone except data harvesters like Google, anyway. It's the same nonsense as "The Cloud", a purely marketing abstraction for something we've already had for decades - servers storing and processing data in data centres. It's meaningless gibberish, designed to obfuscate the true nature and purpose of something dubious.
