The thing is every time there's significant shake up among tech development people always panic. With the rise of cars competing with horses, TV and movie's competing with books, video games competing with board games and pinball machines, etc.
All that happened in each of those instances is one set of jobs died and another rose up to take it's place. Farmers and horse trainers became mechanics and car salesman, writers for books became screenwriters, board game developers became video game developers. Jobs aren't lost they just shift. Now to be fair there is a difference with artificial intelligence and the previous examples and that's that AI could potentially affect every aspect of modern life whereas each of the other advancements only affected part of it. TV and movie's could replace books, newspapers, and even radio productions but not banking or legal departments.
Really I think the biggest issue that thankfully the world is starting to address is the fact that development for AI is moving WAY too fast. The reason the writers strike was even a thing last year was because the corporations that desperately wanted to use AI knew that current protection laws did not take things like artificial intelligence into account and so couldn't be deemed unlawful. The strike helped change that but it's just the start of several changes that need to happen and soon.
Once the world resets laws, procedures, and practices to reflect modern times including the development of AI then at that point it will be no different than any other technological development.
